Samsung washing machine information and error codes (2024)

Moisture is detected somewhere it doesn't belong, or there is an issue with the sensor itself.

1. First, look for evidence of a leak. Sometimes, leaks are so small they go unnoticed. If you find a leak,fixing the leakwill fix the error.
2. Check that the hoses behind the washer (supply hoses and drain hose) are not kinked.
   Note: Do not remove the screw on the back of the washer that holds the drain hose against the washer. If the screw has been removed, screw it and the holder back in with any screw that fits. If the holder is missing, service is required.
3. Run an empty cycle with no additives (detergent, fabric softener, etc.) and see if suds appear during the cycle. If they do, it means too much detergent or a non-HE detergent has been used. Continue to run empty cycles until there are no more suds, and then check if the code appears again.

If suds do not appear, but the code continues, visit ourSupport Centerto request service.

Water is not entering the washer correctly.

1. Make sure both the hot and cold water supply hoses are connected to the correct inlets (hot to hot and cold to cold) on the washer, and that the hoses are not bent or kinked. If you do not connect the hot water line, you will get an error when the washer attempts to use hot water, which may happen even on cycles labeled Cold.
   Note: Do not use Flood Safe hoses.
   
2. Open the water valves completely and leave them open as the washer is running.
3. Make sure the drain hose is inserted properly and is not kinked. It should not be inserted less than 6 inches or more than 8 inches into the drain pipe.
   Note: Do not remove the screw on the back of the washer that holds the drain hose against the washer. If the screw has been removed, screw it and the holder back in with any screw that fits. If the holder is missing, service is required.
   
4. Unplug the washer or flip the circuit breaker for the washer for 1 minute. Then, restore power and try to run a cycle.
5. If there is dirt or debris in the water supply, it will get filtered before entering the washer, and if enough debris builds up, it will block water from entering the washer. If you want to check for debris, you'll need to turn your water supply valves back off, and disconnect the hoses from the back of the washer and look inside the washer's connections. If there is debris, carefully remove the filters and clean them. Make sure the water supply valves are fully open again after reconnecting.

The water from the cold water supply is extremely hot.

This happens when the supply hoses are swapped and cold is connected to hot while hot is connected to cold.

To fix this, connect the cold supply to the cold inlet and the hot supply to the hot inlet. Typically, this will require matching blue to blue and red to red.

This code does not indicate that service is needed.

A button on the panel is detected as stuck or continuously pressed.

To fix this, power off the washer, and then individually touch every button on the panel. While touching each button, work it back and forth to reach all edges before releasing.

If any of the buttons are damaged, or the code returns after powering on the washer, visit ourSupport Centerto request service.

*On some models, BE2 (8E2) is a Jammed Button Error. On some models it is a Mems Sensor Error (located in the All Other Errors section). See youruser manualto determine which it is for your model.

There is an irregularity in the electrical current being supplied to the washer. APF(Power Failure) Error will also occur if the power went out before the washer powered itself off (such as an outage), the washer getting unplugged, or if the circuit breaker trips. Models that are not in their country of origin may display this error code because power grids and their regulations vary between countries.

To fix this, confirm the washer is on its own circuit and is not using an extension cord.

The door is not detected as closed and locked.

Check that the latch is securely fixed, laundry or other items are not caught in the door, and the door is closed and secured correctly.

If the code cannot be corrected or if there is damage to the door or latch, visit ourSupport Centerto request service.

Notes:

• This code may appear even if you are not running a cycle, if Child Lock is enabled and water is in the tub. If the door is not closed or Child Lock turned off within 30 seconds, the washing machine will drain the water from the tub.
• FlexWash washers will display a1dC4error if the rubber button next to the upper washer's latch is missing. In this case, service is not required, and replacing the button will fix the error.

*On some models, dC is a Door Error. On some models it is an Unbalanced Load Error. See youruser manualto determine which it is for your model.

The washer has detected an over-sudsing condition and will stop for a short period to allow the suds to dissipate. The cycle will automatically continue afterwards, although the code may flash again at the end of the cycle as a reminder.

This code does not indicate that service is needed. It is caused by an incorrect use of detergent.See our guide on detergent usage.

The Add Door is not detected as closed and locked.

Check that the latch is securely fixed, laundry or other items are not caught in the Add Door, and the Add Door is closed and secured correctly.

If the code cannot be corrected or there is damage to the Add Door or latch, visit ourSupport Centerto request service.

The current load in the washer is unbalanced inside the tub. A Ur code (Unbalanced Load Retry) means the washer is going to try to add more water, try to balance the load, and then try the spin cycle again. This will extend the length of the cycle. A Ur code does not mean that there is an issue with your washer, it's just there to tell you what's happening.

All the other codes in this section indicate the washer will fail to complete the cycle because the load is unbalanced.

1. Untangle and rearrange the laundry to be more balanced within the tub.
2. Close the door and restart the cycle (push the Start button).

Calibration mode is used to recalibrate the weight detection of the washer. Weight detection is used to adjust the water amount used per cycle. It's a step typically performed at the very end of installation.

Calibration mode will rotate the tub or drum back and forth for 1-3 minutes and then end by itself. However, Calibration mode will not calibrate correctly unless the washing machine is empty. If there is something in the washing machine, remove it and then run Calibration mode again with the washer empty, so your washer is properly calibrated. The washer is downloading an update. During the update, the controls will not respond, including the dial. Updates take about 15 minutes and the message will disappear when the update is complete. Keep the washer powered on while the download completes.

If the washer has displayed this code for more than 30 minutes, while continuously powered on and with no Wi-Fi connection issues, then visit ourSupport Centerto request service.

If the error code you received was not listed in a previous section, this means there is no specific troubleshooting for it, so follow this basic troubleshooting instead:

1. Power off the washer for 2-3 minutes.
2. Power it back on.
3. Restart the cycle.
4. If the error continues, visit ourSupport Centerto request service.

Here are the meanings of some errors that do not have specific troubleshooting and so would follow these basic steps. This is not a complete list; if your error is not listed here either, these basic steps still apply.

It's only an error code if something's wrong.

Some models of washing machines don't have a digital display, so when it's time to display an error code, they will use blinking lights instead. The combination of blinking lights determines what the code is. However, since lights may blink as part of regular use, you should really only consider this an error code if the washing machine also isn't working normally, such as stopping mid-cycle.

Not filling error

Water is not entering the washer correctly.

1. Make sure the hot and cold water supply hoses are connected to the correct inlets (hot to hot and cold to cold) on the washer, that the hoses are not bent or kinked, and that the water supply valves are completely open.
   Note: Do not use Flood Safe hoses.
   
2. Make sure the drain hose is inserted properly and is not kinked. It should not be inserted more than 6 inches into the drain pipe.
   Note: Do not remove the screw on the back of the washer that holds the drain hose against the washer. If the screw has been removed, screw it and the holder back in with any screw that fits. If the holder is missing, service is required.

Hot/cold error

The water from the cold water supply is extremely hot.

This happens when the supply hoses are swapped and cold is connected to hot while hot is connected to cold.

To fix this, connect the cold supply to the cold inlet and the hot supply to the hot inlet. Typically, this will require matching blue to blue and red to red.

This code does not indicate that service is needed.

No drain error

Water is not draining from the washer at the correct speed (or at all).

Overflow error

There is too much water in the washer.

Jammed button error

A button on the panel is detected as stuck or continuously pressed.

To fix this, power off the washer, and then individually touch every button on the panel. While touching each button, work it back and forth to reach all edges before releasing.

Door error

The door is not detected as closed and locked.

Self Clean Reminder

This is not an error. The Self Clean LED will blink after a certain number of washes. This may vary slightly between models based on the size of your washer. Although you do not need to run a Self Clean cycle immediately, we recommend that you run one at your earliest opportunity.

Miscellaneous/Other

Other light combinations (if they are accompanied by an issue with the washer) typically relate to sensors or the electronic components in the washer reporting that they are not working correctly. Here are a few examples:

• Hot & Cold or Hot & Eco Warm- Motor Error
• Warm- Communication Error
• Hot & Tap Cold or Hot & Cool- Mems Sensor Error
• Hot & Medium or Hot & Mid- Heater Error

Samsung has many different makes and models of washers. If your lights are blinking but it was not one of the combinations listed, and you are experiencing an issue with your washer, then:

1. Power off the washer for 2-3 minutes
2. Power it back on, and
3. Restart the cycle.

Garment +

Child Lock

The smiley face icon indicates Child Lock is turned on. All buttons other than the Power button and the control knob are disabled. On some models, the door also locks.

Delay Start

The clock icon indicates Delay Start is in use. A cycle is prepped to start at the specified time.

Door Lock

The padlock (without a smiley face) or key icon indicates the door is locked. The door locks when a cycle is in progress or at any other time when it is not safe to open the door. Do not try to open the door while this icon is lit.

Time Remaining

The hourglass icon indicates that a timed cycle is being run. The number displayed on the panel is the time remaining in the cycle.

Signal Off

The slashed speaker icon indicates signal sounds (that occur at the end of a cycle) are turned off.

Pure Cycle or Self Clean

The sparkly washer tub icon will display after a certain number of washes. This may vary slightly between models based on the size of your washer. Although you do not need to run a Pure Cycle or Self Clean cycle immediately, we recommend that you run one at your earliest opportunity.

Extra Rinse

The basin of water with a + icon indicates the Extra Rinse option is turned on. Extra Rinse adds additional time to the rinse portion of the cycle, to more thoroughly remove laundry additives and perfumes.

Steam

The two clouds of vapor icon indicate the Steam option is turned on. Steam is used for heavily soiled, colorfast garments, to improve stain treatment and use less water in a cycle.

Interior Lamp

The light bulb icon indicates the lamp inside the washer is turned on.
